Phillip F. Santangelo Sr., age 102, of Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 27, 1923, in Johnstown, the son of the late Anthony Santangelo and Augostina Genovese Santangelo.

Phillip was a graduate of Johnstown High School. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. He was employed for many years as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office in Johnstown until his retirement. Phillip was of the Catholic faith, a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church and the current Holy Trinity Church. He enjoyed watching old TV programs, sports, traveling, and going out to eat.

On May 4, 1947, Phillip married his loving wife, Margaret R. Holland, who predeceased him. They were married for 73 years and had six children: Phillip (Donna), Anthony "Tony" (Carol), Nancy Moore (Jonathan), Frank (Phyllis), Michael, and Marilyn Leto (Richard); twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Phillip was predeceased by his four siblings, Charles, Louis, Joseph, and John, and one granddaughter, Amanda Leto.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown, NY, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 12:00 PM at the church, officiated by Father Matthew Wetsel.

Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown, in the spring.

Contributions in Phillip's memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown, NY 12095.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, NY.
