Phyllis J Baldwin

Phyllis J Baldwin of Wadsworth died Monday May 22, 2023. Mrs. Baldwin was born June 15, 1929 in Wadsworth to the late George and Maude Robinson. She is preceded in death by her husband Homer Baldwin and sisters Marilyn Houglan, Laurel Robinson, and Dorothy Vintilla. Phyllis was retired from the Wadsworth City Schools where she was a much loved elementary teacher for 26 years. Phyllis was an incredibly creative and gifted artist who opened her home to many guests and had an easy smile for anyone. She owned a needlepoint design company, was a talented quilter and gardener, and created beautiful watercolor paintings. Some may remember the summer art classes she taught out of her home to local children. She and her husband were members of Wadsworth Footlighters and the Medina County Art League. She volunteered as a poll worker and for Medina County Parks District, was involved with fundraising for Wadsworth Balloon & Fly Days, and active with (Kent State) Delta Kappa Gamma and her bridge club for many years.
Phyllis is survived by sisters Sue Bickel of Bismarck ND and Janice Welch of Wadsworth, sons Tom (Barbara Sabol) of Akron, Scot (Nancy) of Wadsworth and daughters Jane Heinstrom of Sanbornton,NH and Laurel Baldwin of Bellingham, WA. Grandchildren include Sarah Robertson, Sean Baldwin, Matt Baldwin, Melissa Baldwin, Dan Baldwin and Nyssa Prowell; four great grandchildren Kierra, Emily, Cameron, and Emily plus numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Her family thanks the kind staff of Home Instead, Inn at Coalridge and Harmony Hospice Care who took wonderful care of her.
A memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 5:00 pm at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Medina County Parks District.
