The center of our family, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Phyllis C. Burley, age 87, died on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Brian's House, with family by her side. Phyllis was born March 22, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Julius and Lucille (Leske) O'Kon. She married Gerald "Jerry" G. Burley 66 years ago on April 21, 1956. Phyllis has been a long time member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Church. Staying active in her free time she volunteered for the church funeral luncheons, Lady Circle, and Quota Club for the deaf and hearing impaired. She also had a love for bowling, preparing large meals for the family and enjoying card games.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Burley; children: Lori (Philip) Switala, Lisa Burley-Middleton, Russell (Marcie) Burley, Randall Burley, and Matthew Burley; 13 grandchildren: Ashli (Travis) Hein, Nicholas Switala, Christina Middleton, Brittany (Timothy) Sheibels, Wendy Burley, Emily Burley, Emmett Burley, Alice Burley, Skylar Burley, Raylene Burley, Jake Carpenter, Morgan Burley; 8 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor Maciejewski. She was preceded in death by parents: Julius O'Kon and Lucille (Chester) Chesney; brother, Robert (Helen) O'Kon; and grandson, Andrew P. Switala.
A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 17, 2022, at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church. Fr. John Sarge will celebrate. A procession to her final resting place, Floral Gardens 2215 W. Cass Avenue Road, Bay City, Michigan 48708 is to follow. Friends and family may gather at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry Street, Bay City, Michigan 48706 for visitation Thursday, June 16, from 2:00 PM until the Vigil service at 7:00 PM. A Vigil and Time of Sharing will take place on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Those considering a memorial donation in her memory may wish to consider the Brian's House in Essexville, Michigan.

Phyllis was a beautiful inside and out. She always made me feel like family. Our grandchildren Morgan and Jake are so blessed to have had a grandmother like Phyllis. They will always have such great memories of her. Going to miss you dearly.RIP Phyllis

Phyllis was beautiful person inside and out. Always a delight she made me feel like family. Our grandchildren Morgan and Jake are so blessed to have a grandmother like Phyllis she loved them dearly. . She will always be in their memories we will make sure of it. RIP Phyllis
