Phyllis E. Cary

1933-2026

Phyllis E. Cary passed away peacefully at home on February 1, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in 1933 to Charles Coombs and Mildred (Slater).

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 40 years James S. Cary, a daughter Patricia Butler, a sister and 4 brothers. She is survived by her children Melody Savino, John Gorman, Dean Gorman, James A. Cary and their spouses, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was a lifetime member of Christian Fellowship Church in Scotland where she participated on several short-term foreign country mission trips, helped in the kitchen and in the nursery. She worked in the cafeteria for many years at Doctor Helen Baldwin school in Canterbury. For many years she served as the treasurer for the Christian Woman's Club. Phyllis was an accomplished seamstress having made a wide variety of clothes including coats and bridal gowns.

A celebration of life will be held on March 14th at 1:00pm in Calvary Chapel in Canterbury. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department can be made in her honor P.O. Box 48, Scotland, CT 06264.
