Obituary of Phyllis Helms
Phyllis Jacqueline Helms, 85, of Palm Bay went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 11th. Jackie was born in Indianapolis Indiana to loving parents Eddie and Ruby Mae Hargraves. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Helms and her brother Richard Hargraves. She is survived by her children Steven Helms and Tammy Aubrey. Her grandchildren are Amanda Aubrey, Brittany Reed(Joshua), Christina Aubrey, and one great-grandchild Samuel Reed.
She moved to Miami when she was 6 years old and then moved to Homestead soon after. She attended South Dade High and then married Jack Helms, a local farmer in Jan 1954. They were married for 55 years and raised their family in Homestead. In 1993, after Hurricane Andrew hit, she moved to Palm Bay where she has lived for the last 30 years.
In her early years, she loved playing softball, riding horses, and playing tennis. She also enjoyed volunteering in the nursery at Palm Bay Christian church.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. She went to every dance recital, music concert, and many basketball, volleyball, softball, and soccer games.
She was the most kind, loving, giving wife, mother, and grandmother "Mi Mi". She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
Her celebration of life will be held this Sunday, March 19th at the Tomoko Christian Church in Palm Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family request you donate to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
