Phyllis Justus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory - Granite City on Jan. 29, 2026.
Phyllis Jean Justus, 88, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 2:23 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Liberty Village in Maryville, Illinois.

Born on November 21, 1937, in Granite City, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Parker) Puhse. Granite City was always home to her and the place where she built a life centered on family.

Phyllis worked for many years as a secretary for May Department Stores. She was a member of the Eastern Star and St. Peter Evangelical Church, communities she valued deeply.

Family was the center of Phyllis's world. She loved holidays, especially the chance to gather everyone together and spoil her grandkids. She also adored her dogs and never forgot their nightly bowl of treats. In countless quiet ways, Phyllis showed her love every day.

She was the glue that held her family together. Deeply loved, she will be missed more than words can say.

Phyllis is survived by her four children, Donald Edward (Diane) Justus Jr., June (Jim) Crabtree, Kenneth (Margie) Justus, and Douglas Justus, all of Granite City; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Judith Elders of Pontoon Beach, Illinois, and Jeanine Reichwein of Granite City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ralph "Sonnie" Puhse.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2025, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
