Phyllis A. Kist, age 91 of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Eagle Grove passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Mercy One Hospital in Clinton. Private family visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Phyllis was born in Eagle Grove on October 18, 1931, the daughter of Winfield and Gladys (Bernard) Comstock. She attended Eagle Grove Public Schools and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. Phyllis married Dr. Richard Kist on September 30, 1950 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Richard passed away on March 15, 2004. Phyllis and Richard moved to Clinton in 1959 where he practiced until 2004.
Phyllis was active in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Mercy and Jane Lamb Hospital Auxiliary, and Dental Auxiliary. Her greatest joys were her daughters, their husbands and their families. She was always there helping her daughters and families each time there was a new baby, a move, or for summer vacations in Clinton. A beautiful heart and soul is gone. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by 4 daughters, Mary McIntyre of Toledo, OH, Debbie (Jim) Israel of Johnston, IA, Susan (Michael) Smith of O'Fallon. MO, and Caroline (Scott) Ebensberger of Clinton; 9 grandchildren, Matthew McIntyre, Meredith (Eric) Anderson, Mike (Brooke) Israel, Dan (Ashton) Israel, Brian (Hannah) Israel, Nevada (Monica) Smith, Natalia (Ryan) Kreinbring, Cari (Andrew) Strom, and Erica Ebensberger, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; a brother Robert Comstock, and a sister, Miriam Thompson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Information and Referral Assistance, aka, Benevolent Society, 219 1st Ave. Clinton, Iowa 52732. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
