Phyllis "Fina" Musumeci (née DiDio), age 84, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, in Newton, Massachusetts.
Born on April 30, 1941, in Enna, Italy, Phyllis was the beloved daughter of Enrico and Agatha DiDio. At the age of 17, she made the courageous journey from her hometown in Sicily to begin a new life in Philadelphia. There, she built a home and a life filled with love and dedication for over six decades before relocating to Newton four years ago. In her final years, she found joy in celebrating special occasions, giving Harvey treats and going to the casino.
Phyllis shared 62 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Joseph Musumeci. Together they raised their daughter Lisa Musumeci, who is married to John Sakalowsky. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Eros Sakalowsky (Ayden) and cherished the memory of her late grandson Romeo Sakalowsky.
She is also survived by her sisters Maria Guerrini and Concetta Boccella, as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins and Babydoll who will all remember her warmth and generosity. She is predeceased by her brother Giuseppe DiDio.
Phyllis will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, boundless kindness, and unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Good Shepherd Community Care: https://gscommunitycare.org/Donate
