Phyllis Lenette Patterson, 61 of Leesburg, VA passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024. Born on August 8, 1963 in Martinsville, VA, she was a daughter to the late Edward J. Fleming and Delores Hill Hunt.
A graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Chicago, IL, she received her Bachelor of Science from the University of the District of Columbia and Masters of Science from George Washington University. Phyllis was known to be a huge Chicago Bears fan who loved everything "football". She loved to discuss the games, players and any developments regarding football. She knew the statistics better than most sports commentators. She also loved to drive and explore new housing developments just for fun. Although she didn't really like to cook, she made the best German Chocolate Cake in the world!
She started her Computer Science career at Time Life, Inc. before moving to Bell South which morphed into Bell Atlantic and then Verizon and ended her career with InfoSys. Through all of the company mergers, acquisitions and lay-offs, Phyllis was always chosen to continue on for the talent and skilled expertise she provided for over 30 years.
Phyllis was the cherished wife of Anthony Ray Patterson for 35 years and is survived by her sisters, Debra Webster and Sharron Fleming, her brother-in-law, Micheal Webster, sister-in-law Beverly Patterson, nephews Noah Fleming and Mario Webster, and niece Marcelle Patterson. Her life was a testament to the love she shared with her family, friends, coworkers and neighbors leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. She will be missed by a host of family and friends.
The celebration of life will be held at New Vision Church in Bowie, MD at 2:00PM on September 14, 2024. Phyllis will be celebrated and remembered for the joy and beauty she brought into the world.
