Phyllis Jean Wasel ObituaryLife story written by her family: Phyllis Jean Wasel, "Jean" went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday Dec 20, 2024. Jean was born in New Market, VA on Dec 3, 1943 to Jeannette and Orville Zirkle.
Jean was an inspirational sister, wife, mother and Mimi. She is survived by her son Brian (Megan), granddaughters Cristiana and Olivia of Lexington Park, MD. She is survived by her sisters Judy Abell and Miriam Lawson. She celebrated fifty years of marriage to her husband, Dave prior to his passing in 2022.
Jean was an extremely talented pianist and organist. Being born with perfect pitch, she could hear any piece of music and then sit down and play it by ear. She graduated from Madison College with a degree in music and did post graduate work at the Peabody Conservatory. She came to Maryland and began as an elementary music teacher. As a longtime Orioles fan, she was always proud of being a teacher of Cal Ripken Jr.
In addition to her love of music, she loved all of her pets (& grandpets) over the years. Jean was known to be a selfless, caring soul always worrying/tending to others. This did not stop once she received her cancer diagnosis. She continued to care for others over herself to include her final days.
Jean was the owner of The Lamp Shoppe in Bel Air, MD with her husband, Dave. She was an extremely devout woman and proud of her faith. She was the organist at the Reformation Bible Church in Dublin, Md.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Reformation Bible Church. Jean's life will be celebrated on Jan 10, 2025 at 11:00 at the Reformation Bible Church, 1736 Whiteford Road, Darlington, MD 21034
