Phyllis A. Wheeler, 91, passed away on June 3, 2024 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Harold R. "Bud" Wheeler. Born in England, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lilian (Trowbridge) Clark.
Phyllis came to the United States in 1962 on the USS Geiger and became a naturalized citizen in 1992. She was educated in England, where she attended nursing school, and she worked as a nurse's aide in various hospitals in Lubbock, TX. She was a member of the Parkway Drive Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX, where she sang in the choir and served on several committees. She loved social events at the church and she was always helping out. She volunteered her time to visit hospitals and nursing homes to cheer people up and to let them know how special they were.
Survivors: Daughters, Carol Schafer of Allentown and Anita Payne of Lubbock, TX, and her partner, Shane Martin; Sister, Beryl; 6 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren. Phyllis was predeceased by her son, Matthew Castle.
Services: Memorial 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus. A calling hour will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM Tuesday in the funeral home. www.BKRFH.com
