The party here on earth got a little quieter on October 9th, 2025. In a sudden and unexpected departure, Phyllis Zook was finally able to join her husband, Frank, at the ultimate gathering.

Phyllis Ann Zook was born April 16th, 1943 to Edith and James Edward Coombs, in Enid, OK. She was the baby of the family, joining her brother James (Buster) and sisters Molly and Shirley.

In 1946 Phyllis and her family moved to Milwaukie, OR, which would become her lifetime home.

Phyllis attended Concord grade school, then Clackamas High School. Her final two years of high school were spent at Milwaukie High School where she graduated in 1961.

Her good friend Sandra had a brother who returned from service in the Navy in 1963. She may not have known it immediately, but that sailor, Frank Zook, would become the love of her life. They were married in 1965, and remained together until Frank's death in 2008.

Frank and Phyllis first lived in Vancouver, WA and their son, Ryan, was born in 1966. Two years later, daughter Kelli was born in Canby, where Frank's career took the family. From Canby they moved to Puyallup, WA, until 1972 when they returned to Milwaukie.

Phyllis spent those years raising her two kids and supporting the family. She was a soccer mom before it was a thing.

In 1979 she went back to work at US Bank as a teller. She took great pride in her ability to always have a balanced till. She also cherished the relationships she had with fellow employees and regular customers.

Her leisure time was spent playing tennis and golf with friends. Frank's business provided opportunities to travel to Europe, Japan, and Australia. On those trips they formed long-lasting relationships and lifetime memories. She often said how thankful she was that she was able to travel while still young.

Phyllis always made sure everyone around her was having a good time. But the best times came in 1998 when her first grandchild (Kyra) was born and she became Oma. In 2011 Sam and Anisa were born. Oma's house was always a special place for these three. The only thing better than grandchildren? Three great-grandchildren: Georgia, Wells, and Lane.

In November 2021, Phyllis moved from her home of 50 years to the Springs at Clackamas Woods. There she was able to live out the last years of her life surrounded by friends and good times.

We will celebrate Phyllis's life on Saturday, October 18, 2025 with an open house at The Springs at Clackamas Woods from 3-5pm.

A private interment at Willamette National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
