Porchia Alexandria Simmons

Porchia Alexandria Simmons, 38, of Columbus passed Sunday, October 12, 2025. Born to Angela (Calvin) Payne, Porchia was a proud 2005 graduate of Carver High School and continued her academic journey at Albany State University and later graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2011. She also dedicated her career as a Claims Examiner with Lincoln Financial.

Porchia was a radiant soul-outgoing, lovable, and full of life. Known as the life of the party, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Her greatest joys were found in the simple pleasures: cheering on her children as they performed in the band, cooking up delicious meals, and sharing her vibrant energy with those around her.

In addition to her mother and bonus father, her survivors include two sons, Jacoby Cornelius Jackson and Manny Bryce Alvarado; one daughter, Mia Alexandria Alvarado; four brothers, Tristian Hayslett, Rashod Hayslett, Kyle (Alex) Heinl, Marquandis Whitehead and Calvin Payne, Jr.; three sisters, Quinnita LaShay (Deforest Tyrone), Kendra Weiland, Arianna Heard, Antelle Payne, Ashley Payne and Angela (Rick) Dillon and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews, cousins, two special nephews who were like Porchia's bodyguards, Joseph Jones and Joshua Jones; a bonus daughter, Danysia Rae Jackson, and two devoted friends, Shetara Griffin and Tillman Gibbs.
