Portia "Cookie" Trout, 82, of Red Lion, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 23, 1943, in Red Lion, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Portia Hall. Cookie was the beloved wife of Ray Trout, with whom she shared 61 devoted years of marriage.
A lifelong resident of Red Lion, Cookie was a proud graduate of Red Lion High School, Class of 1961. She owned and operated Portia Hall Draperies, where her keen eye for design and attention to detail earned her the admiration and trust of many in the community. Above all, Cookie cherished her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them.
In addition to her husband Ray, she leaves behind her 3 sons, Byron Trout, Garrett (Amy) Trout, and Barrett (Sandy) Trout; her adoring grandchildren, Carley McCormick, Lindsay Carfley, Ryan (Meagan) Strathmeyer, Joanna (Michael) Fink, Adrienne Trout, Garrett Trout, II, Bryn (Jeff) Cosklo, Nolan (Claudia) Trout, Callie Trout, and Quinn Trout; her 6 great-grandchildren; and her 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
She was also preceded in death by a sister.
The family greatly appreciated all the care, support and love during her illness from family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, 11AM, at St. John's UCC, 161 North Main Street, Red Lion, PA. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the church from 10AM-11AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association: ATTN: Sunrise Walkers (York, PA), 399 Market Street, Suite #250, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
