Dr. Pratap "Pat" Patwardhan, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025. He was born on September 30th, 1944, in Angol, India, as the firstborn son of Colonel Ramchandra Narayan Patwardhan and Ushadevi Ramchandra Patwardhan.
Pat loved serving Eureka College as a trustee for six years. He also was a Master Mason, Shriner, and Scottish Rites member. Pat volunteered for Junior Achievement for 10 years and AFS for six years as co-president. He was always included as a member of IBM's volunteer acitivies and the Nordson Corporation beside his wife Laury.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Laury Patwardhan; sisters Rekha Bhat (Minraj), Connie Curry (Ron); nephews Swaraj Bhat (Neha), Josh Worley, and Greyson Lowry; nieces Andrea Lowry (Dan) and Alyssa Worley; sisters-in-law Cara Sermeno, Beth Worley, and Shama Patwardhan; brothers-in-law Matthew Taylor and Chris Pries, and mother-in-law Dee Taylor. Pat is predeceased by his parents and three younger brothers: Lynn Meshberger, Vijay Patwardhan, and Anil Patwardhan; mother-in-law Caryl Taylor; father-in-law Bill Taylor; his American parents Leon and Elois Meshberger, and his dear nieces Monika Bhat and Angie Voelz.
Pat was very devoted to his family, both immediate and extended, which included many "adopted" nieces and nephews around the world. He instilled in them valuable life lessons-trust, unconditional love, and a strong belief to pray and believe in God. He carried in him the true joy of living life to the fullest with a positive and optimistic outlook, stamping his mark by telling everyone to "Dream Big".
Pat and Laury traveled to over 46 countries during their 48-year marriage. Recent cruise trips included destinations like Norway, the Baltics, Russia, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. They made memorable stops at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, as well as London, where they traveled the country meeting with lifelong friends. Pat's adventures started early in his childhood as his family traveled by steam engine and lived in Bengaluru, Kanpur, and Sangli before settling in Pune.
He graduated from Fergusson College, Pune while working three jobs as a broadcaster for All India Radio, journalist for The Sakai paper, and banker for UCO bank. His lifelong goal was to study in America for a journalism degree to learn how to create TV programs. He attended Eureka College, obtaining his Bachelor's Degree, and Illinois State University, obtaining his Master's Degree in Communication and International Business, He went on to study at the Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management, obtaining an Advanced Degree. His crowning achievement was earning his PhD in International Finance and Education from the University of Toledo.
Pat's passion was cricket. He and his brother Vijay were well-known players, Pat being admired especially for his coaching skills. He was considered an expert, writing for the newspaper and acting as a color analyst at live cricket games on All India Radio. He later immortalized his expertise by writing a book about cricket with dear friend Banda.
Pat worked as a Global Business Executive for Business International, selling and consulting for new product development, country selection and entry points. He was asked to spearhead the Dale Carnegie Business in India, with multiple consulting engagements for Cisco, Ford, Kimberly Clark, Cummins, and other Fortune 500 companies. The last ten years of his career were spent teaching International Business and various leadership courses at Cuyahoga Community College.
Pat will be deeply missed, but his light will never fade, for it lives on in the world he so dearly cherished and in the hearts and minds of the people whose lives he touched.

Parma, OH 44129 on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 1:30-3:30PM for Traditional Hindu Services with Cremation at 3:30PM.
Friends may also gather at BUSCH FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, April 5, 2025 for Visitation from 2-4PM with a Celebration of Pat's life taking place at 4PM.
