Remembering Preston Fischer

For Preston Fischer's family and friends, life changed drastically on November 2, 2025. In his 25 short years, Preston, or better known as "PFish" managed to squeeze in more adventures, laughter, and good stories than most people get in a lifetime.

Born on February 10, 2000, Preston came into this world rowdy - and never slowed down. As the middle boy, he was blessed to call his brothers, Jake and Anthony, his best friends. Growing up, the three of them were a force of nature adventuring together, protecting one another, and sharing endless inside jokes. He was a part of the Westgate Chapel and Church 3 Twenty One youth groups, declaring his faith in Jesus and getting baptized in 2006.

Preston attended Sylvania Southview High School, graduating in 2018. He was a lacrosse goalie all four years, class president, and a member of the National Honor Society. He also attended The Ohio State University, where he met some of his best friends and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He graduated in May 2023 with a degree in Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife, with a focus on Fish Species Management.

He secured his dream job, working on Lake Yellowstone, and then moved to Idaho to work in species management. Recently, he was working as a fisheries biologist for the Wisconsin DNR in their musky division.

Preston was passionate about being outdoors and especially loved to watch sunrises and sunsets. He would drive to the best places to get the perfect picture, eagerly sharing them with family on Snapchat. Whether he was catching musky; kayaking on rivers in Wisconsin; hunting deer, duck, turkey, bear, or elk; or operating a boat, he couldn't get enough of being in nature.

But as much as he loved the outdoors, he was happiest with family and friends. Preston cherished the annual Thiel family vacation in Wisconsin, looked forward to time with his nieces and nephew, and never missed a chance to banter with friends. He loved attending OSU games, watching the Detroit Lions, playing Dota and reading sci-fi & fantasy books. Preston was especially proud to have recently earned his Captain's license, a testament to his love of the water.

Preston's best quality was the way he made everyone around him feel. He could walk into any room and instantly make it better. He was the guy who showed up early to help, stayed late to laugh, and somehow made friends everywhere he went, whether in Ohio, Wisconsin, Idaho, Montana, or New York.

Preston will be missed deeply by his devoted family - parents, Chad and Kristy; brothers, Jake (Sarah) and Anthony; nieces, Amelia and Daphne; nephew, Brooks; grandparents, Kim & Greg Graff, Mark & Heather "Kandi" Fischer, Blake & Tracie Thiel; great-grandmas Dolores Graff and Janice Fischer; aunts Tara (Matt) Aston, Kelly (Curt) Flowers, Melissa (Kirk) Huebner, and Candice Graff; uncle Josh Graff; special Uncles Burden and Andrew, and Auntie Elaine; and a host of extended family and friends.

The Fischer family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 3:00 - 8:00pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 West Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 10:00am at the Five Lakes Church Life Center location, 4765 North McCord Rd., Sylvania, OH 43560.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lake and Trails Camp. Preston's favorite book of the Bible was Job, and to honor his life, the family encourages you to read it.
