R. Von Duey, Jr., 77, a resident of Templeton, formerly of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at Fitchburg Healthcare on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Anson) Duey.

Going by his middle name Von, he spent his childhood in a few states with his brothers and sister, even though, born in Pennsylvania he considered his childhood home in Cleveland as this was when he enjoyed football and his favorite team became the Cleveland Browns. He was a Marine in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and other metals. He then went to The University of Fredonia, NY where he met his wife, Patty. He worked as a contractor at Hanscom Air Force Base. His favorite pastimes were gardening and all kinds of puzzles. He enjoyed family vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee where he spent a lot of time sailing.

In addition to his loving wife, Von is survived by his daughter, Nicole Duey from Tyngsboro; his son Robert Duey and his wife Stacey (Arsenault) Duey from Merrimack, NH; and his grandson Chase Duey from Merrimack, NH. He is also survived by his brothers James Duey from New Jersey and Randolph Duey from N. Carolina; nieces, nephews and many cousins.

I worked with Von at Hanscom for many years and played basketball on occasion with him during lunch at the base. Von was a quiet gentleman and a very professional worker who also played a mean game of basketball. My sympathies to Von's family. May he rest in Peace. John Wilder
