Rachel Marie Damron-Hissong, a beacon of kindness and beauty, both inside and out, passed away on July 30, 2025, in Canton, Michigan. Born on April 21, 1986, in Dearborn, Michigan, Rachel's gentle soul and intelligent spirit brought light and love to everyone she encountered throughout her 39 years of life.
Rachel was the cherished daughter of Lucy Damron and Thomas Hissong (Victoria Hage-Hassan). Her life was a tapestry of close-knit family ties, including her adored uncles and aunts: Timothy and Kristie Hissong, Terrence and Jeanne Hissong, Tobin Hissong and Christine Purchis, Annette and Mark Ripper, the late Todd Hissong, PJ Jenkinson, Tracey Hissong, Megan Hissong, Ted Hissong, the late MaryAnne Gouthro, Patricia Lebert and the late Walter McClure, the late Bob Damron, Raquel Damron, Carole Seeley, Sharon and the late Art Neely, Rose and the late Roger Heffernan, Linda and John Husted, and Nancy and the late George Gannage. Rachel's memory will be forever cherished by her many cousins, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Rachel's passion for life was evident in her pursuit of knowledge and her desire to help others. She received her certification in Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting from Schoolcraft College. Her career was a reflection of her innate desire to care for people, and her patients often spoke of her kindness and the comfort she provided during their times of need.
A lover of the natural world, Rachel found joy in the simplicity of life. She was often found with a camera in hand, capturing the serene beauty of nature. Her photographs are lasting reminders of her ability to see and appreciate the world in its purest form. Rachel's love for bike riding and hiking was more than a hobby; it was her way of connecting with the earth and her own spirituality.
Rachel's spirit was characterized by her unwavering optimism. She always saw the best in people, even when it wasn't warranted, and her belief in the goodness of others was both admirable and infectious. Her sweet demeanor and kind heart were her trademarks, and she navigated life with a loving and gentle approach that resonated with all who knew her.
Although not overtly religious, Rachel carried a deep spiritual understanding that guided her through life's challenges and triumphs. Her intelligence was matched only by her beauty, which emanated from within and illuminated her surroundings. A true friend to animals, Rachel held a special place in her heart for dogs, rabbits, and deer, and she was often surrounded by the creatures she adored.
Rachel Marie Damron-Hissong's legacy is one of love, compassion, and the gentle reminder to see beauty in the world around us. Her memory will be held in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her spirit will continue to inspire kindness and warmth in the lives she has touched. Though her physical presence will be missed, the essence of who she was remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
