In Loving Memory of Rachel Elizabeth Moore
October 3, 1985 – July 24, 2025
With heavy hearts and an abundance of love, we share the passing of Rachel Moore, 39, a fiercely funny, kind, loving, and beautifully complicated soul, who left us far too soon after a long battle with illness.
Born in St. Louis, MO, Rachel had a laugh that could light up a room and a stubborn streak that could move mountains-or just cause household chaos. She lived life passionately and unapologetically. She could debate anyone on anything (even things she didn't actually know much about), and often won just on charm and determination alone. Rachel graduated from Delta High School in 2004. She went on to graduate from The The Alexandria School of Therapeutic Massage in 2005, after which she continued to practice her magic on her ever grateful family members.
Rachel loved fiercely and remembered everything - every inside joke, every lyric, every story. She had a knack for accents and stealing the spotlight. She adored music, nature, art, animals, and most of all, her family.
Rachel is survived by her beloved sons, Louis and Axl; her parents, Gary and Julie; her siblings, Amy (Allan), Michelle, Steve, and Leslie; her cherished nieces and nephew, Madison (Riley), Arwen, Zoe, Emily, Lily, and Leo; her grandmother Beverly Engle; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins - all of whom loved her deeply and will miss her forever. She is also survived by her loving partner Chad, countless friends, a few too many half-finished art projects, and two beautiful cats. Rachel was predeceased by her grandparents, Jim Engle, Don and Mary Jo Moore, and her uncle, Joe Engle.
Addiction was one chapter of Rachel's story, but it was never the whole book. She fought harder than most people will ever know, and she did it with bravery and humor. She wanted to be more than her struggle-and she was. She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a whirlwind of sarcastic wisdom, and yes, a self-proclaimed drama queen. Most of all, she was loved.
We'll miss her wit, her warmth, her spunkiness, and her uncanny ability to make us laugh - even when we didn't want to. Rachel left the world a little brighter, a little messier, and a whole lot more interesting.
A celebration of Rachel's life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at COhatch Broad Ripple, 6151 Central Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46220. Wear something Rachel would've loved (no rules!).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to NAMI Indiana (https://www.namiindiana.org), or simply do something kind for someone who's struggling. She'd like that.
We love you, Rachel. Always.
