Rafael Serrano Sr., 89, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Born in Camuy, Puerto Rico to the late, Agapito and Mercedes (Lugo) Serrano. Rafael was a longtime resident of New York City, before moving to South Jersey.
In Brooklyn, Rafael was a member of Los Cursillos de Cristiandad at Holy Innocents Church, and a member of St. Cecelia/Mary Queen of All Saints Church in Pennsauken. He loved playing dominos and fishing, especially teaching his grandkids to fish off the pier in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY. Rafael loved music, he enjoyed dancing and strumming his guitar. He was eager to attend any social event and spend cherished time with his family.
Rafael leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Lydia (Morales) Serrano, his children, Rafael Serrano, Jr., Eric Serrano, Hector Serrano, David Serrano and Lourdes Serrano-Calderon and her husband, Elmer, his grandchildren, Eric Jr., Jessica, Erica, Vanessa, Benjamin, Christopher, Joshua, Janine and Raquel, as well as, his great grandchildren, Videl, Azalea, Joel, Janiyah, Jiannah and Jayden.
A visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Road, Pennsauken, NJ 08109. A morning visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2023 from 9:30am - 10:30am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Cecelia/Mary Queen of All Saints Church, Pennsauken. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Rafael's honor, to assist Camden's youth, to lucyoutreach.org
