RALPH J CALABRESE, JR.
Ralph J. Calabrese, Jr. passed away on August 31, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by his loving family.
Ralph was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (Elsie) (nee Wild) Calabrese. He is survived by his children James (Jean) Calabrese, Carol (Michael) Kaskel, and Alice Calabrese Smith. He was also the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Ralph was born during the Depression. He continued to live by the values he learned at that time and passed them to his children. After completing high school at age 16, he joined the US Marine Corp to serve his country during WWII. After serving, he went on to college and graduated from Alfred University with a BS in history. He later went to work at First National City Bank, (Citibank), for 37 years until his retirement. He continued his service to others by working with Junior Achievement and the Lions Club in New York. He also served on various state and city sponsored organizations advancing loans to small businesses.
Ralph and Elsie bought a home in Baldwin, New York where they raised their children. During this time, Ralph served 3 terms on the Baldwin School board to ensure a fiscally sound and academically appropriate education for all children.
Ralph was also an avid stamp collector for most of his life. He spent many years collecting stamps, postcards and first day covers, traveling around the country with his wife, and later his children, to stamp and postcard shows.
Viewing and services will be at Donahue-Cecere Funeral Home www.donohue-cecere.com, Westbury, NY. Interment, Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corp Heritage Foundation, marineheritage.org, or Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester lollypop.org. in his memory.
