Ralph C. Johnson, 86, of Onset, died Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham unexpectedly. He was the husband of Theresa T. (Brown) Johnson.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Charles E. & Eleanor C. (Cager) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a career TSgt. in the U.S. Air Force and served in both the Korean conflict and the Vietnam war. He retired in 1973 and returned to Onset. After his military career, Mr. Johnson worked as sheet metal technician for Sencorp White in Hyannis and did aircraft repair for Air New England and Cape & Islands Air. He retired in 2003.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed 10 pin bowling at the Wonderbowl in New Bedford. He was a member of the Wareham/New Bedford Lodge of Elks, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa of Onset; his children, Teresa Johnson of Wareham, Christopher A. Johnson of Chelsea, Michael A. Johnson and his wife Darci of Plymouth, Gregory T. Johnson and his wife Jackie of Wareham, and Angeline F. Johnson of Wareham; his siblings, Brenda Johnson, Audrey Bolden and Joan E. Ratcliff all of Baltimore, MD. Also surviving are 11grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, the late George E. Johnson, William E. Johnson, Patsy S. Hunter, Marlene J. Freeman, Clarence C. Johnson, Robert V. Johnson, Jerry T. Johnson and Lorraine M. Johnson.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 3, 2022 at St. Mary's Church, Onset at 11 AM. Please go directly to the church. Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
