Obituary for Ralph Eugene Robinson Sr. March 16, 1949 – July 10, 2025
Ralph Eugene Robinson Sr., age 76, of Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 10, 2025. A beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Ralph's presence brought warmth, laughter, and unwavering love to all who knew him.
Born on March 16, 1949, to Thomas W. and Vinita M. (Nallie) Robinson, Ralph grew up in Columbus, where he graduated from South High School and attended The Ohio State University. A proud Buckeye, Ralph was a standout athlete on the OSU Track & Field team, an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for sports-especially track and Buckeye football.
Ralph began his professional journey as a Broadcast Skills Bank trainee at WBNS TV-10, working on the floor crew before rising to the role of film editor. With a keen eye for detail, he edited both commercial and feature films, helping shape the content millions would eventually see on air. He later worked in sales, managing his brother Ronald's car lot, and eventually concluded his career at Chase, continuing his success in sales. Outside of work, Ralph was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast who thrived on the challenge of the most complex crossword puzzles. He found joy in fishing, classic Westerns, and of course, cheering on his Buckeyes. A music lover at heart, Ralph cherished the soulful sounds of Isaac Hayes and The Delfonics, with Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain" holding a special place in his heart.
Ralph was a devoted caregiver to both of his parents in their later years, a testament to his deep love and commitment to family. Known for his vibrant personality and compassionate nature, Ralph touched the lives of many through his kindness, humor, and strong sense of loyalty.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas W. and Vinita M. Robinson; his brothers, Thomas W. "Bill" Robinson and Ronald D. Robinson; and his sister, Deloris M. Robinson. Ralph leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Ralph E. Robinson Jr. (Risa); granddaughter, Kaia Z. Long; sister, Linda Robinson; brother, Carl M. (Tamara) Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
