Ramon C. Portillo, 79 years old, of Pampa, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 6, 2024. He was born on August 25, 1944, in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to David and Ramona Portillo.
At the young age of 15, Ramon married Evangelina Gonzalez on April 18, 1959, in Juarez and they had recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. About 25 years ago, Ramon and Evangeline moved to Pampa from Juarez. He had worked in the oilfield for several years as well as a landscaper from which he retired. Ramon loved the outdoors and often just sat outside watching life go on around him. He raised and cared for various animals then once he was satisfied with their growth and stature, would butcher them.
Ramon was a fairly serious man, but all seriousness fell to the wayside when his grandkids and great-grandkids were near. He loved them all fiercely and enjoyed spending quality time with each one when given the opportunity.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Ramona Portillo; five siblings, Blas Portillo, Mario Portillo, Maria Portillo, Isabell Portillo, Rosa Portillo and a daughter, Alma Rosa Portillo.
Those remaining to carry on his legacy are his wife, Evangelina Portillo of Pampa; five children, Silvia Portillo and husband Julian of Pampa, Gerardo Portillo and wife Rosario of Juarez, Manuel Portillo and Gisela of Pampa, Gabriela Portillo and husband Omar of Juarez; four sisters, Silvia Portillo of Juarez, Guadalupe Portillo, Pura Portillo both of Roswell, New Mexico, Gloria Portillo of Pampa; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and a great-great-granddaughter.
Ramon will be available for paying final respects Monday from noon until 8pm with a Rosary being recited at 6pm in the Winegeart Funeral Home Serenity Chapel.
Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Guadalupe Mayorga officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Ramon C Portillo, please visit our Tree Store.
