Ramona Jean Madaris

Ramona Jean Madaris, 77, of Chickamauga, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Ramona was born in Chattanooga on December 27, 1947, to the late Carl and Sarah Starling. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga. She attended Tift College and was retired from the Walker County Board of Education, working mostly at Cherokee Ridge Elementary School.
Ramona volunteered for many years at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. She loved to share her life story and encourage the residents. She was a recipient of the Life Inspiration Award from the American Cancer Society.
Loves of her life were a wonderful family, great friends, church, spring flowers, travel, live theatre, and riding her adult trike through the Chickamauga Battlefield.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Doug Madaris; sons, Scott (Julia) Madaris of Ringgold, GA and Gary (April) Madaris of Acworth, GA; grandsons, Josh (Mikayla) Madaris of Ringgold, GA, Blake Madaris of Acworth, GA, Jonah Madaris of Ringgold, GA and Bryant Madaris of Acworth, GA and great-granddaughter, Eliza Jane Madaris of Ringgold, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Doug Plumlee and Kim Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
