Randall "Randy" Jones passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 15, 2025 at the age of 74. The son of the late Clayton and Barbara (McEachern) Jones, Randy was the first baby born in the U.S. in 1951 and spent his youth in South Boston.
He was the ever-loving husband of the late Kathleen (Fitzgerald) Jones, with whom he shared fifty years of marriage, the majority spent in their home in Holbrook, where he was always working on or planning the next home improvement project. He was the caring father of Brandon and Bradford, in whom he instilled a dedication to family and to hard work, the fond father-in-law of Kim and Kristen, with whom he shared a special bond, and the recent doting grandfather of Nora Kathleen, with whom he enjoyed exchanging delightful smiles.
He eagerly looked forward to every get together with his family and friends, especially those with his late brother Richard, his sister-in-law Teré, his sister Barbie, his brother-in-law Rick, and his many nieces and nephews. He anticipated with joy annual vacations to Maine, North Carolina, or the location of his sons' next baseball or hockey tournament.
Randy's career spanned more than three decades at Door Control in Randolph, where he started his workdays early, but not before having coffee and breakfast made for the house. He was a generous Holbrook Little League coach who could talk baseball late into the night. Friends and family mourn Randy's passing, but will easily picture him reclining in his chair, watching Boston sports and relaying the weather forecast to anyone within earshot.
At the request of the family, all services will be private.
Arrangements under the care of the Cartwright Funeral Home, Holbrook.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association, 55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
