John Anthony Culhane Jr., of Dorchester, formerly of Holbrook, known affectionately as Jack to his loved ones, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 5, 1950, in Boston, Jack was a man whose presence was characterized by a loving and spirited nature that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Jack was the cherished son of the late John A. Culhane Sr. and Gertrude Kelleher. He grew up in a lively household with his brother, Patrick M. Culhane, who, along with his wife Kathleen of Holbrook, shared many fond memories with Jack. A beloved uncle, Jack held a special place in the hearts of his nieces Kerry Kaulbfliesch and her husband Sean of Holbrook, Meghan Culhane and her husband Seamus Langan of Abington, as well as his nephew Patrick M. Culhane Jr. and his wife Kerri of Dorchester. His role as a great-uncle to Walter, Danny, Jack, Luke, and Ellie was one he embraced with joy and pride.
Jack's early education was rooted in his hometown, where he graduated from Holbrook High School. His thirst for knowledge led him to attend a few classes at Massasoit Community College, where he furthered his education and prepared for his future endeavors. Professionally, Jack dedicated five years of service to the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds. He also served on the Holbrook Planning Board.
Despite losing his eyesight ten years ago, Jack's passion for life never wavered. He was an avid sports fan and an avid reader, and he continued to keep up with current events by listening to the radio. His loss of sight only seemed to sharpen his other senses.
Above all, Jack loved spending time with his family and friends. He was the heart of any gathering, bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Jack's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of the human spirit. He faced adversity with grace and good humor, inspiring those around him to do the same. As we say goodbye to Jack, we also celebrate the legacy of love and perseverance he leaves behind. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
