Randall L. Shoemake, 80, of Stevensville, Michigan, passed away on October 29, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1945, in Niles, Michigan, the son of the late Wiley and Carrie Jane (Lewis) Shoemake.
Randy grew up in Buchanan, Michigan, and often recalled fond memories of attending Wagner School with brother, David, and sister, Sara. In later years, Randy and David often grabbed newspaper headlines for their shared athletic achievements.
Randy served in the United States Army from 1963-1966, patrolling the Korean borders before returning to Michigan and meeting his future wife, Linda, at Western Michigan University. After graduation, Randy worked for 25 years for the Social Security Administration where he was known for always taking time to help co-workers and for his vast knowledge of department regulations and policies.
Randy was known for his warm smile, keen eye for detail, deep faith and quirky sense of humor. He was a dedicated enthusiast who enjoyed both playing and watching sports and rarely missed a Detroit Tigers or Lions game.
Randy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda (Barnes) Shoemake; a daughter Anna (Norm) Carl; son, Barry (Kelly) Shoemake; son, Lee (Andi) Shoemake; grandchildren Sean Carl, Brenden, Makayla, Riley and Aubrey Shoemake; Brother, David (Rosemary) Shoemake; sister, Sara (Tom) Bates; and sister-in-laws Diana Barnes, Beth Hardman; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Palmer Funeral Home – Hoven Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
