Randolph Warren Sr., 74, of
Rolesville, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Born on June 22, 1951, in
Brooklyn, New York, to Robert and Nettie Warren, Randolph was the second of eight children and grew up in a close-knit family that shaped his deep sense of loyalty and responsibility.
He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and began his professional life as a librarian with the New York Public Library, reflecting his lifelong appreciation for knowledge and learning.
In the early 1980s, seeking a new path of service, he joined the Army Reserve and trained as a medical specialist, later building a meaningful career with the VA Hospital System, where he retired as a dedicated nursing assistant who cared for veterans with compassion and respect.
Outside of work, Randolph lived life with joy and enthusiasm. He was a passionate New York sports fan who loved rooting for his hometown teams. He loved playing paddleball and slow pitch softball.
Music was a constant in his life; he enjoyed exploring all genres and especially listening to jazz in the park. He found comfort and entertainment in classic movies, westerns, and countless episodes of Law and Order.
Randolph was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nettie Warren; his friend, Carmen Sanchez; and three brothers: Isaiah Warren, Timothy Warren, and Leonard Warren. Their memories remained a source of guidance and strength for him throughout his life.
He is survived by his former wife, Linda Whitley, and their two children, Jamell R. Warren (Kim) and Randolph J. Warren Jr. (Tamara). He also leaves his brothers, Robert A. Warren (Ingrid) and George Warren; his sisters, Patricia Warren (Stephon) and Wanda Warren (Benjamin); his aunt, Evelyn Moore; and his beloved grandchildren, Jahvae and Morgan. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will cherish his memory and the impact he had on their lives.
The family extends special thanks to his extended family Leonard and Pat Hunter from the Bronx, and to the staff at Hillside Nursing and Rehabilitation for the compassionate care and support they provided over the last few years.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave.
