Randy Paul Benschoter, 65, of Olathe, KS passed away on December 23, 2024 at Providence Medical Center Emergency Room in Kansas City, KS. Celebration of Life service is to follow at a later date. Randy was born and raised in Lawrence, KS, where he was a graduate of Lawrence High School and was very proud to be a "Chesty Lion". During high school he worked for his uncle's Mobile Service station where he continued to hone his mechanical skills working on cars. Later working for Hercules Inc. in De Soto, KS as a maintenance mechanic and met the love of his life, Bertha. Then began working for Shade Foods, Inc. as a maintenance mechanic that allowed him to help care for his children and was there for the next 20 years when he began to get restless and changed careers and began driving a line haul truck like his father did and worked for Keystone Automotive for the next 22 years until his retirement in 2023. He had recently begun a part-time job with a contractor with FedEx as a line haul truck driver with the goal of purchasing a new pickup with that extra money. Randy enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving fast cars, being with his family and his spoiled chubby Chihuahua, Rosie, who is sitting looking at the garage door every night waiting for him to come in.
He was proceeded in death by his father Donald Benschoter, and mother Edna Mae Benschoter Lolley, stepfather Gerald "Jake" Lolley, mother and father-in-law Betty J and George Lopez Jr., and brother-in-law George Lopez III.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years Bertha "Bert" Benschoter, son Brandon and daughter Brianna of the home. Sister-in-laws Lupe Warner of Kansas City, MO, and Jovita Kane of Jay, OK and brother Terry Benschoter and his longtime companion Suzanne Bateman of Grantville, KS and a sister Katherine "Kathe" Clark and her spouse Terry of McLouth, KS and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In place of flowers the family suggest donations to Olathe Animal Shelter at Olatheks.gov from the main page pick pet adoptions then follow the prompts for donation or you may mail them a check at 505 E. Sunvale Dr., Olathe, KS 66061 or Sheps Place senior dog sanctuary in Independence, MO.
