Henry Austin Jacobs

Henry Austin Jacobs, age 91, of rural Tonganoxie, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13th, 2025. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday evening, Sept. 19th, at the Bonner Springs Church of Christ, 419 E. Morse Ave. Bonner Springs, KS. The funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 20th, also at the Bonner Springs Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, 17557-17845 Chieftain Rd., Tonganoxie, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
Henry was born on September 16, 1933, in Delaware, Oklahoma, and was the only child born to Austin Charles "Rusty" & Thelma (Blackburn) Jacobs. He grew up in Oklahoma and enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he served three years. When he returned from the Marines, he took a job with Phillips Petroleum and attended Oklahoma Christian College. While attending college, Henry met the love of his life, Billie "June" Wright. They were married on April 18, 1957, in Bartlesville, OK. He earned his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University. Henry then took a job with the IRS, which landed them in Kansas City. In 1968, they moved to rural Tonganoxie, where they still reside. He was a longtime member of the Bonner Springs Church of Christ. Henry enjoyed his rural living, farming, sharing and delegating chores with his children. He also enjoyed spending time at their home at Grand Lake in Oklahoma, listening to country music, and watching his vast movie collection. Most of all, he loved his family and especially the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Amanda Dawn Skaggs, and one great-grandson, Alexander Jacobs.
Survivors include his wife, June Jacobs, of the home, Rick Jacobs and wife Cheryl of Lawrence, KS., Karen Grammer and husband Terry of Basehor, KS., Sandy Jacobs of Tonganoxie, KS., Mark Jacobs of Basehor, KS., Brenda Fricke and husband Aaron of Leavenworth, KS., 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends.
