Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Randy L. Collins, age 93, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Sunday April 27, 2025. Mr. Collins was born in Collins, Georgia, the son of the late Ivey Lee Collins and the late Dora Oliver Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters: Ruthie Foster, Ruby Harrell, Jessie Altman, Evelyn Durrance and Marie Arnsdorff and one brother, Eddie Collins.
Mr. Collins was a veteran of the Korean War. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked forty-four years as a maintenance superintendent with Kemira Global in Savannah, Georgia. Randy converted to Catholicism while serving in the military. His lifelong commitment to strengthening his faith was evident in his devotion to his loving wife and family and in his active membership at St. Catherines Labouré Catholic Church. He was an accomplished songwriter and loved to sing and play guitar with his loved ones. Randy thoroughly enjoyed playing high school football and did some boxing while in the service. His love of watching sports continued throughout his life, but he had a particular fondness for Georgia Bulldog's football.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Linda A. Collins of Jefferson, GA. His children, Julie Anne Elbers of Farmville, VA, Angela Marie Cobb of Onancock, VA, Lisa Lynn Blair (Robert) of Midlothian, VA and Michael Randolph Collins of Farmville, VA. Two grandchildren, Anna Laurel Blair and Alexander Linden Blair both of Richmond, VA. Brother-in-law, Keith Allison of Seneca, SC. Sister-in-law, Charlotte Hartloge of Pooler, GA. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 30, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Curt Marsh officiating. Entombment will follow at 3:30 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M until 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Catherines Labouré Catholic Church 180 Elrod Road Jefferson, GA 30549.
