Randy Lindhorst Obituary

Randy Scott "Rand" Lindhorst, the man who could light up a room faster than a welder's torch, took his final bow on April 6th, 2024, following a tragic auto accident. Born to the world on October 11, 1965, in Sayre, Pa, Rand became the beloved beacon of joy in the lives of his parents, Robert "Bob" and Roselyn "Rose" Lindhorst, and his cherished sister Monica Babcock and her partner John Ward.
Rand's zest for life was as contagious as his laughter. As a graduate of Tioga Central High School's class of 1983, he was renowned for his brief two-day football career which ended with a broken hand - a testament to his "go big or go home" approach to life. Thereafter, he proudly served on the social committee, befriending everyone with a smile and a joke, proving that his true talent lay in making lifelong connections rather than touchdowns.
For over two decades, Rand's heart and soul were embedded in the family farm alongside his parents. His commitment to hard work continued as he became the reliable Plant Manager at Porter's Concrete and the go-to Manager for Tank Cars at GE Rail. But let's be honest, his favorite gig was teaming up with his best pal Nick at Nick's Landscaping. There, Randy was the Michelangelo of mulch, the da Vinci of dirt, the Rembrandt of rock gardens.
Rand's greatest joy was his children, "Jack" (Milena), "Phreddy" (Natalia), and "Bubby" (Ezra). He was a father who preferred the company of his kids on the farm over any other adventure, though he never turned down a good nature walk in search of eagles. His companion and special friend, Stacey Gallagher, along with her family, added layers of happiness to his already vibrant life.
Family gatherings will surely miss Rand's wit and humor, especially his favorite nephew, "Pic" Dylan, and his wife Amber Babcock. His aunts and uncles, Louise & Harlin McEwen, Walter "Pete" Lindhorst, and his many cousins, will fondly remember his antics and infectious laugh. Predeceased by his maternal grandparents, George & Marguerite Cheresnowsky, and his paternal grandparents, Henri and Berendine Lindhorst, we can only imagine the uproar of joy as they welcome him with an "Irish Lullaby."
Speaking of circles, Randy's were always spinning with activity because to hang out with him was to sign up for a good time, guaranteed-no ifs, ands, or buts. His ability to fill a room with laughter was as innate as his ability to fix anything broken. Tammy, along with countless others, can attest to the joy that Randy brought to their lives. His presence was like a one-man variety show that you never wanted to end. As the man himself would have quipped, borrowing from the legendary Robin Williams, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." And lose it, Rand never did.
In true Rand fashion, the family invites you to come just as you are - no frills needed - to share stories and memories on Friday, April 12th, from 4 - 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. His guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com awaits your stories, each one a thread in the vibrant tapestry of his life.
Randy "Rand" Lindhorst was the epitome of kind, adventurous, and friendly, a man who turned every day into a stand-up routine without even trying. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and the reminder to never take life too seriously. So here's to Rand, the man who showed us all that life is better when you're chuckling.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Rose, Bob and Monica for your loss. I cherish the memories of my childhood on Adaline street and always looked forward to the time Randy and Monica would come to visit their grandparents as it meant we could spend time with them playing and having fun. Please know how sorry I am for your loss.

I don´t know him. His smile made me stop and read his obituary which is one of the best descriptions of a man I´ve ever read. Well done to the author and well lived and loved it sounds like to your new Angel.

Randy always had a smile and great laugh. Life threw Randy many curve balls but he never gave up or let them get him down. He was a friend you could always count on being there for you. He will greatly missed by many. RIP my friend.
