Paul Merton Keeney of Towanda, PA

Paul M. Keeney, 59, passed away on August 14, 2025, after a valiant yet short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife, sons, and two of his grandchildren.

Paul was born June 16, 1966, to Dorothy (Wheaton) and the late Wayne Keeney in Sayre, PA. Paul was a fiery child whose spirited nature stayed with him into adulthood. As a child, as soon as he was big enough to reach, Paul could be found helping his father, Wayne, milk cows. Though his parents believed that Paul would follow in his father’s footsteps, as a master herdsman, Paul discovered the world of sawmilling and carpentry.

After graduating from the Owego Free Academy in Owego, NY, in 1984, Paul began his passion for working, causing some to refer to him as a workaholic. He began working at farms near his childhood home for several years before beginning his journey into the sawmilling and carpentry industry. Starting first as a board piler at Ames Handle Factory in Monroeton, PA, it would not be long before Paul’s work ethic had him climbing the promotion ladder to become a head saw. After several years, Paul found his home at CC Allis & Sons Inc. in Wyalusing, PA, in 2003, where he quickly became an extended part of the Allis family. Paul worked at CC Allis & Sons Inc. until his cancer diagnosis in May 2025.

Shortly after beginning his lifelong career at CC Allis, he met Edith (EJ) Mosier. She became his newest obsession. They quickly started dating, and from that point on, you would rarely find one without the other. In 2010, Paul and EJ wed at the Bradford County Manor so that EJ’s father could walk her down the aisle to her adoring, but nervous, groom.

Paul loved children, and as a young adult, he aspired to have a small farm where troubled and at-risk children could go and learn to cope through the care of animals. As he aged, Paul became immersed in building things, gardening, and racing. You could often find him riding around Barcley Mountain with EJ, or at The Hill Raceway in Monroeton, PA, on a Friday night with a drink in his hand, loudly cheering on the racers. He was also a diehard fan of Tony Stewart, and one would always see him sporting Tony apparel. He even often traveled to Daytona, FL, with his best friend, the late Dyke Lane, to see Tony race at Daytona Speedway. At home, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; carting them around in a wagon attached to a lawnmower or golf cart. Paul also had a green thumb, which he used year after year to grow the largest gardens anyone had ever seen. He even made sure to plant a garden this year, despite his diagnosis of cancer.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Edith; his mother, Dorothy Keeney; Sons- Jacob (Rachel) Keeney and Seth Keeney; Daughters- Danielle (Jeremy) Wood, Tashia Walker, and Jessy Walker; Grandchildren- Kihya, Jaidyn, LauraLeigh, Karla, Brandy, Christopher, Trevor, Johnathan, Dominick, Eleanor, and Benjamin; Brothers- Brett (Candy) Keeney, and Curtis Keeney; Sisters- Shannon Keeney and Jill (Stacy) Brink; as well as an uncle, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Paul is predeceased by an infant sister, Crystal Keeney; father, Wayne Keeney; grandson, Izeyah Wood; a sister-in-law, Pam Keeney and brother, Curtis Keeney.
