Funeral services for Randy McGee, 64, of Melbourne, Iowa, will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Feel free to wear camo and bring a duck call to the service in honor of Randy.
Interment will be at the Dallas Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his family in care of Cheryl Branson, 705 Butler St. Melbourne, Iowa 50162.
Randall Earl was born February 5, 1961, in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Ellen Thudiam and Kenneth Brandhorst; he was adopted by Glen McGee and took his name. He grew up in the Cedar Falls and Waverly areas and entered the United States Army in 1978, serving both state-side and overseas.
Randy worked for 27 years at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo in the Maintenance Department. Randy has always had a love for the outdoors. When possible, his days were filled with duck hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. Even through his battle with cancer in the past month he had gone hunting and taken a fishing trip to Minnesota. He also enjoyed collecting guns and most importantly hanging out with his friends on these hunting and fishing trips.
Randy had a generous spirit and would help anyone. He was ornery as heck and enjoyed the camaraderie with his family and friends.
Randy passed away at home after battling cancer on Saturday, January 10, 2026. He will be greatly missed by his companion of 24 years, Cheryl Branson; children: Pepper (Larry) Champlin, Carrie (Reggie) Cooper, Brandi (Jerry) Holman, and Bobi Patton; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren plus two more on the way; step-mom, Donna Brandhorst; siblings: Scott (Jennifer) Brandhorst, Susan Parkinson, and Pat McGee; along with many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Brandhorst; mother and step-father: Ellen and Glen McGee; and brother, Rob Brandhorst.
