Randy Robert Shaver, a beloved father, 'Pops", son, uncle, godfather and friend, passed away in his favorite place, Stuart, Florida, on May 6, 2025, at the age of 68. Randy was born and raised in Cobleskill, New York, to Robert and Eleanor Westfall Shaver, their only child. Anyone who met Randy couldnt help but recognize his effortless likeability; with qualities such as a strong work ethic, passion for life, and a warm and personable manner.
Randy continued to develop those qualities through his education, graduating from Cobleskill High School with the class of 1974. While working as an X-ray Technician one day in the Operating Room, Randy stumbled upon the world of Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) and never looked back. After graduating from Albany Medical Center School of Nursing in 1979, he graduated from Susquehanna University with a B.S. in Biology and started a 37-year career of passion and dedication as a CRNA in 1984.
While at Albany Medical, he met the late Anne Nicklaw, his future wife of 26 years. They were married in 1982, and in true Randy Shaver fashion he wore his white clogs to the ceremony. They lived briefly in Pennsylvania and Connecticut before settling in
Southwick, MA. It was at Hummingbird Hollow where they raised their two children, Ryan (Kailani) and Carly; a house always filled with love and joy.
Randy loved Florida and dreamed of living there full time, a dream which came true. He continued his work as a CRNA there until his retirement. Randy kept busy in retirement, volunteering at the Elliot Museum and chatting by the pool with friends and family. Randy was always generous and enjoyed taking care of his fellow neighbors, serving them on his condo association board and was elected as President for a time.
Randy R. Shaver is survived by his children and grandchildren Logan Edmund and Cameron Nicklaw, with a granddaughter on the way in October. He held a close bond with his in laws (and fellow out laws) Kate (Peter) Murphy, Patty Nicklaw, Mary Noone, Theresa Kane, Margie (Dave Goggin) Nicklaw, Maureen Nicklaw, and numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Randy forged a lifelong friendship with Bill and Bonnie Kalish and their family. He is also survived by numerous other family members, all of whom he loved dearly.
Randy lived a beautiful life doing the things he loved with the people he loved, and he touched many lives along the way. We miss him and will love him forever!
