Arling Randolph "Randy" Simmons, II, age 62 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 in the Davis Medical Center. He was born December 17, 1961 in Elkins a son of Jeannie Pearl Simmons of Elkins and the late Arling Randolph "Bud" Simmons. Surviving is one daughter, Kari Simmons and fiancé Michael Higgins, Jr of Elkins, one sister, Barbara Shapiro and husband Melvin of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Austin Simmons, Brian Simmons and Ciara Shahan all of Elkins and nieces, Lauren Schonzeit and Jeremy of Denver, Co, Isabella Shapiro and Morgan Shapiro both of Baltimore, Md. Randy attended the schools of Elkins and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1980. He was employed at the Randolph County Jail, the Tygart Valley Regional Jail and Armstrong Flooring at the time of his illness. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, sitting around a bonfire that he built and listening to bluegrass and country music. During football season, he would be sitting at the bar with a cold one in his hand rooting for his favorite team to win while bad-mouthing the opposing team. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 16th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Verl Simmons officiating. Honoring Randy's request, cremation will follow.
