Raquel Garcia Negrete

Raquel Garcia Negrete, 71, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Antonio Dittmer officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.

Raquel was born October 6, 1954, in Mexico, the daughter of Margarito Garcia and Sara Negrete. She married the love of her life, Salvador Telles Calderon in June of 1968 and the couple shared 57 years of happy marriage.

She was the epitome of a true homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and raising her children. She was also a fantastic cook. If you came to visit, you were sure to leave with a full stomach. Above all else, God and family were the center of Raquel’s life. Raquels happiest days were spent praying and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Raquel is survived by her husband, Salvador Telles Calderon; four children, Maria G. (Angel Garcia) Tellez of Marshalltown, Iowa, Irene Tellez Garcia of Rock Island, Salvador (Rosalva Perez) Tellez Garcia of Marshalltown, and Juan Jose (Maria G. Valadez) Tellez Garcia of Moline; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Roberto, Oliva, Rubicelia and Salvador Garcia. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Jorge Tellez Garcia; and siblings, Amelia, Jose and Adolfo Garcia.

La Misa de Cristiana Sepultura será a las 10:30 a.m. el viernes 21 de noviembre, en la Iglesia Católica St. Mary’s, con el Padre Antonio Dittmer como celebrante. La visita será de 4:00 a 7:00 p.m. el jueves, en el Horizon Room de Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, donde se rezará el Santo Rosario a las 4:00 p.m. El entierro será en Moline Memorial Park. Raquel nació el 6 de octubre de 1954, en México, hija de Margarito García y Sara Negrete. Se casó con el amor de su vida, Salvador Telles Calderón, en junio de 1968, y compartieron 57 años de feliz matrimonio.

Era el verdadero ejemplo de una excelente ama de casa. Disfrutaba coser y criar a sus hijos. También era una cocinera maravillosa; si la visitaba, seguramente se iría con el estómago lleno. Por encima de todo, Dios y la familia eran el centro de la vida de Raquel. Sus días más felices los pasaba en oración y disfrutando del tiempo con sus queridos nietos.

A Raquel le sobreviven su esposo, Salvador Telles Calderón; cuatro hijos: María G. (Ángel García) Téllez, de Marshalltown, Iowa; Irene Téllez García, de Rock Island; Salvador (Rosalva Pérez) Téllez García, de Marshalltown; y Juan José (María G. Valadez) Téllez García, de Moline; 17 nietos; 5 bisnietos; y sus hermanos Roberto, Oliva, Rubicelia y Salvador García. Fue precedida en muerte por sus padres; un hijo infante, Jorge Téllez García; y sus hermanos Amelia, José y Adolfo García.
