Raven Mica Watkins, age 20, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, near his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born in Las Cruces on September 6th, 2002, to Douglas "Gene" Watkins and Mary Rodriguez. He graduated from Las Cruces High School in May of 2021 and attended Automotive Technology classes at DACC. Raven worked as a Busser and Roofer, occasionally moonlighting as a Locksmith Apprentice. He had many interests, including music, skateboarding, being a Halo and GTA extraordinaire, and always working on his truck and motorcycles. Raven was a very protective and caring big brother and loyal friend. He was filled with an infectious exuberance. To know Raven was to love him. He was always willing to help anyone in need and never failed to make his family proud.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rodriguez; uncles: Jeff Watkins and Steve Rodriguez; paternal grandparents: Ronnie A. Watkins and Janie Moore; and maternal great-grandfather Eulalio Rodriguez. Raven is survived by his father Douglas "Gene" Watkins; Gene's partner Anita Slavens; siblings: Andi Watkins, Mina Haydon, Connor, Tempest, and Bellatrix Slavens; maternal grandparents: Nicolas and Irene Rodriguez; maternal great-grandmother Adela Rodriguez, and countless other aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, at 10am at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home at 555 West Amador Avenue in Las Cruces, New Mexico 88005. Ashes will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Las Cruces.
