A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 14, 2025 at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Ray was born on January 11, 1947, in Monroe, Louisiana to proud parents Mack O’Neal Alexander and Leona Deason and entered Heaven’s gates on July 8, 2025.
Mr. Alexander was a graduate of the West Monroe High School Class of 1965. While attending high school Ray excelled in athletics like football, baseball, basketball, and especially track and field. He held the javelin record for more than thirty years! After graduating he went to Northeast Louisiana University on a Track and Field scholarship. Ray proudly served in the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969. Before retirement, Ray dedicated thirty-eight years of service to LP & L/Entergy where he earned the name “Zap.”
Ray had many passions in life, such as watching his children and grandchildren play sports, predominately baseball and softball. He was an avid and competitive softball player for many years beside friends and fellow comrades. Most who knew Ray know he was one of the most savvy and highly skilled pool players. He played for the game and the passion he felt when playing. Many times playing alongside his son, Brian, as well as many other friends and competitors.
Zap was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mack and Leona Alexander; and cherished niece, Amy Michelle Avant.
Those left to cherish and celebrate his life are his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Tina Smith Alexander; daughter, RaeLynn Worsham (Willard, Jr.); son, Brian O’Niel Alexander (Denny); sisters, Mackie Lynn Avant, Nancy Lenard (Mike); grandchildren, Seth O’Neal Alexander, Hannah Renae’ Worsham, Kaitlyn Paige Worsham, Larkin Alexander, Gabe Alexander (Lexi), and Sara Meazell; great grandchildren, Olivia Meazell, Beau Meazell, Audrey Tull, Blake Alexander, Mason Alexander, PK Alexander, Libby Alexander; and niece, Jennifer Avant Bryant.
To know Zap, was to love him he always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. We will all miss him dearly.
