It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ray Eugene Caufman, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on Saturday, January 3, 2026 surrounded by his beloved daughters.
Born April 6, 1959, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of Bertha (Wiles) Caufman of Chambersburg, PA and the late Wilbur Caufman.
Ray was a 1977 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and a devoted farmer. He was passionate about his life as a farmer. Ray worked at multiple farms throughout the course of his life but always made Brechland Farms his home. His unwavering commitment to his work was a testament to his strong work ethic and love for the land.
As an avid hunter and fisherman, Ray found joy in the great outdoors, often sharing these cherished moments with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting groundhogs with his grandson, selling cheese for the local Franklin County Holstein Club, and early morning coffee hangouts with his buddies.
Ray was the absolute best father in the world to his daughters, Amber (Kei Greene) and Sommer (Djordje Cullum). He instilled in them the values of hard work, kindness, and strength. His love extended to his five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. He cherished every moment spent with them whether it be working the farm with his youngest grandson, Koi or teaching Quentin how to drive. He shared his love for animals with his granddaughter Scarlett and took the time to teach the youngest, Vaeda Mae, how to ride her bicycle. Cloie and “Dah Pap” could always be found snacking on onion rings when no one was looking.
In addition to his mother, two daughters, and five grandchildren, he is survived by three siblings, Jean Hess (Dean) of Greencastle, PA, Leroy Caufman (Melinda) of Waynesboro, PA and Anita Schellhase (Craig) of Chambersburg, PA; a number of nieces and nephews; and Amber and Sommer’s mother, Teresa.
Ray found comfort and happiness in his shared quiet moments with his beloved and loyal dog, Zoey who never left his side.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January, 8th at New Guilford Brethren and Christ Church 1575 Mont Alto Rd., Chambersburg, PA where Pastor Lawton Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday afternoon in the church.
