Ray Dean Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory - Cumming on Jan. 9, 2026.
Tommy Ray Dean, age 49, of Duluth, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Tommy Ray Dean was born on July 14, 1976, at Joan Glancy Hospital in Duluth, Georgia, to Tommy and Deborah Dean. He was raised in Duluth alongside his sisters, Gypsy Ernissee and Jessica Parker, and was a graduate of Duluth High School, Class of 1998.

Ray lived a life marked by joy, faith, and enthusiasm. He was an active member of Abundant Life Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, where his love for worship and his devotion to Jesus Christ were central to who he was. Ray treasured deer hunting, riding four wheelers, swimming in the pool or lake, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed video games, Power Rangers, and never passed up a plate of good food-especially if it was cooked by his brother Jeff. He loved music of all kinds and was widely known for his spirited mastery of the air guitar, air drums, and air keyboard, often bringing laughter, wonder, and worship all together in one expression.

Ray's life impacted countless people who remember him as kind, compassionate, and authentic. He possessed a remarkable heart for Jesus and lived with a faith that shaped everything he said and did. His worship was sincere, his prayers earnest, and his encouragement heartfelt. Those who knew him recall his big smile, his radiant joy, and his steady, courageous spirit. Ray never allowed disability to define him-he embraced curiosity, strength, and boldness, while also carrying a soft tenderness that made others feel seen, loved, and valued.

Many remember him as a true worshipper, a beloved friend, and an unforgettable companion in faith. He inspired others through his devotion to Christ, his humor, and the simple yet profound way he celebrated life. His presence brought light into sanctuaries, youth groups, living rooms, and hunting stands alike. He gave great hugs, prayed powerful prayers, and encouraged with sincerity beyond his years. His impact continues in the smiles he sparked, the faith he stirred, and the worship he led without ever holding an instrument in his hands.

Now, Ray worships at the feet of Jesus-the One he adored-and the thought brings comfort to all who cherish his memory. His absence on earth is deeply felt, but his joy in Heaven brings hope. Until the day of reunion, his life will be remembered with gratitude, admiration, and love.
