Ray Edward Miles, a beloved father, caregiver, and patriot, passed away peacefully at the Green Valley Care Center on March 10, 2025, at 4:17 AM. Born on October 26, 1952, in Washington, Indiana, Ray lived a life rich in service, dedication, and kindness.
The son of William and Charoltte (White) Miles, Ray grew up in Pike County, Indiana, and graduated from Winslow High School. He later answered the call of duty by serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, a testament to his unwavering patriotism and courage.
Ray was a skilled welder by trade and played an instrumental role in constructing amusement park rides, bringing joy and excitement to countless families. His meticulous craftsmanship and pride in his work were unmatched.
A man of diverse interests, Ray had a deep love for hunting, car racing, and watching NASCAR. As a high school drummer, he developed a passion for music and adventure, which later led him to travel extensively to NASCAR races and tracks. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and volunteering his time to help others, including serving aboard the LST 325, a WWII landing ship in Evansville, Indiana. Ray's generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand were hallmarks of his character.
Ray was a proud member of the Petersburg, Indiana, VFW Post 3587, where he found camaraderie and fellowship with fellow veterans. His strong sense of community and dedication to service were evident in every aspect of his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Anastasia Miles of Bethel, Ohio, and Elizabeth Miles of Ohio. Special gratitude is extended to his devoted caregivers, Ed and Mary Schieve of Memphis, Indiana, for their kindness and compassion.
Cremation has been entrusted to Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, Indiana. To honor Ray's memory and share condolences with the family, please visit AdamsFuneralHomeOnline.com.
