Darrell D. Sherrard, age 88, of Underwood, IN, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.

Darrell was born on March 13, 1937, in Nashville, TN, to the late Don and Pearl (Cantrell) Sherrard. He was a 1954 graduate of Henryville High School. A dedicated businessman and skilled craftsman, Darrell owned Koopman's Hardware store and spent over 30 years as a residential home contractor.

In July of 1988, Darrell married the love of his life, Barbara "Sue" Sherrard, in Glasgow, KY. Together they shared a life full of adventure, love, and travel until her passing on June 23, 2023. The couple especially cherished their winters spent in Arizona in their motorhome. He proudly visited every U.S. state-except Hawaii-by road.

A man of strong faith, Darrell was a member of Christ's Community Church of the Nazarene in New Albany and had recently been attending Memphis Christian Church. He was also an accomplished athlete, being a two-time Indiana State Horseshoe Pitching Champion and earning the title of World Horseshoe Pitching Champion.

Known for being outspoken, hard-working, and fiercely devoted to his family, Darrell found his greatest joy in time spent with loved ones. He especially loved his children and cherished his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Greg (Marisha) Sherrard of Charlestown, IN, Pam (Dennis Strange) Hughes of Henryville, IN, and Annette (Scott) Robinson of Georgetown, IN; nine grandchildren, Lee (Andy) Hammond, Ariana (Joe) Campbell, Kelsey (David) Bigelow, Kailey (Jared) Nauert, and Jami (Graham) Jones, Trevor Robinson, Jessalyn Robinson, Steve Robinson, Sandy Robinson; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Charles) Heil of Scottsburg, IN; and a close friend, Dee Dee Short of Memphis, IN.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sue and his son-in-law, Paul Hughes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2025, and again on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service, all at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memphis Christian Church Building Fund.
