Ray Munoz Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at The Plaza, surrounded by his loved ones leaving behind a legacy of love and an unforgettable spirit that will be sorely missed. Born on July 8, 1949, in the vibrant city of Lubbock, Texas, Ray's life was marked by dedication to his profession as a warehouseman at United Armstrong Moving and Storage and his unwavering passion for the simple pleasures in life.
Ray's love for family was boundless. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Isabel Munoz, whose partnership with him created a home filled with warmth and joy. His children Ruben Saenz ( Mary) of Boise, Idaho, JoAnna Gomez ( Jerome) of Lubbock, Ray Munoz III of Lubbock, Guy Munoz ( Veronica) of Lubbock, and brothers and sisters, Dolores Munoz of Lubbock, Raul Munoz ( Stephanie) of Waco, Isaac Munoz ( Teresa) of Lubbock, Dalia Munoz of Lubbock, and Dolinda Garcia (David) of Houston, Texas, carry forth the values and lessons he imparted throughout his life. Ray's legacy extends to his 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom holds pieces of his heart and the stories he loved to share.
An avid sports enthusiast, Ray found profound joy in baseball, particularly as a steadfast supporter of the Texas Rangers. His spirit echoed in the excitement of every game, illustrating his belief in the power of community and shared experiences. Additionally, his love for football and barbeque were integral to his character, often bringing family and friends together to celebrate life’s moments with laughter and good food.
Ray's legacy is not solely one of personal interests but is woven through the lives he has touched. He endeared himself to all who crossed his path, demonstrating the importance of kindness and giving generously of himself. His infectious smile and hearty laugh enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
As we commemorate Ray's life, we invite all who knew and loved him to join in the celebration of his journey. A visitation will be held on July 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas. A funeral service will follow on July 8, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM, at the same location. Ray will then be interred at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, where family and friends can pay their respects from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM, honoring the remarkable man he was.
As we say farewell to Ray Munoz, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the love he shared and the memories we will hold dear forever.
