Ray E. Ross, 77, of Flora, passed away Friday, December 5, 2025, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. He was born on November 15, 1948, in Wauseon, Ohio, to Barney and Phyllis (Mapes) Ross. He spent most of his childhood years in Neapolis, Ohio. He eventually moved to Flora in 2019.
Ray was a graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, class of 1968. He then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked at Johns Manville for many years before retiring. Ray was an avid animal lover, enjoyed working in his flower garden and loved classic cars. He was a Ford man. Ray enjoyed being around friends and family and loved telling stories from his childhood and making others laugh. His kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand when and where he could, will be missed by those that knew him.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Melissa O’Neil and Mindy (Levi) Evans; siblings, Sally Ross, Gail Paul; grandchildren, Wyatt, Dalton, Mark, Zach, Bailey; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; siblings, Gary Ross and his twin sister, Faye Gutherie.
