Henley Ray Tweed, 73, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away, May 19, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville. He was born November 25, 1951 in Harlan, KY to the late Billy and Anna (Thacker) Tweed.
Ray graduated in 1969 from Evarts High School in Evarts, KY. Shortly after, he continued his education at Southern Union Junior College in Wadley, AL where he met his lifetime best friend on the first day, Rusty McHugh. He built a life around the water as a skilled boat engineer and Merchant Marine. A gifted songwriter and musician, Ray was a founding member of the Fish Camp Band and had a deep love for Outlaw Country music and Classic Rock. He found great joy in boating and cherished time spent with his neighbors and friends.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 25 years, and caregiver, Lori Tweed; son, Chris Sargent (Heather); step-son, Eric Fletcher (fiancé, Amy Hood); step-mother, Jean Tweed; brother, Bryan Tweed (Kelli); sisters, Patty Talley (Dennis) and Susie Garmon (Bobby); and his nieces, Allison Talley and Kelly Garmon.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 23, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN. Burial to be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to NEWLIFE Rescue and Adoption, 6500 Leonard Rd. N., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
