Raymond John Bippus, 83, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away, November 7, 2025 at West River Health Campus in Evansville. He was born November 6, 1942 in Evansville, IN to the late Benoni J. and Berenice (Schroeder) Bippus.
Ray graduated from North High School with the Class of 1960 and later earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Evansville in 1975. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard in 1963 as a cook. Ray was part of the staff for the grand opening of Burdette Pool, where he met his future wife, Lucinda L. Lockridge. They were married on August 29, 1964.
In 1965, Ray worked briefly for Budlock Refrigeration in Evansville before joining Babcock & Wilcox as a production planner, where he remained until 1977. That same year, he and his mother founded Frames Built by Bippus, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. The business continues today as a proud third-generation, family-owned and operated company run by his daughter and son.
Throughout his life, Ray was recognized for his service and commitment, receiving the GLVC – Dr. Thomas J. Kearns Service Award in 2015 and being named to the USI Hall of Distinction in 2024. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Conservation Club, the NRA, and a proud 40+ year member of the USI Varsity Club. Ray enjoyed traveling to the Bahamas and other islands, woodworking, fishing, kayaking, camping, and took great pride in caring for his yard. Above all, he loved supporting his grandchildren in all their sporting events and extracurricular activities.
He was preceded in death by his son, John W. Bippus and brother, Robert A. "Bob" Bippus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Cindy; daughter, Jill Isaac (Mark); son, Tom Bippus; daughter-in-law, Kaye Bippus; grandchildren, Caitlin Ries (Jacob), Craig Isaac (Zoe), and Nina and Renee Bippus; great-grandsons, Jackson and Wyatt Ries and William Isaac; sister, Mary Bryan (Jim); and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
A private funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The family would like to thank West River staff and Hayley Olsen for their compassion and excellent care.
