West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory - MariettaRay Vaughn, Jr., age 89, of Powder Springs, GA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. A Celebration of his Life on what would have been his 90th birthday will be held at 1pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Flint Hill Methodist Church in Hiram, GA with Rev. Joe Buckner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12pm until 1pm prior to the ceremony at the church. On Friday, March 13, 2026, the family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
Born in Morven, NC, Mr. Vaughn moved to Cobb County 37 years ago from Rock Hill, SC. After graduating from Appalachian State University, he worked as a high school teacher. He then owned and operated a college food service business, but his passion was serving as the Pastor of Flint Hill Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed playing golf when he was younger, and loved going to the beach, especially Fripp Island in South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia "Pat" Vaughn; children, Kathie Vaughn (Bill) Reid, Rock Hill, SC, and Scott Smith, Roswell, GA; granddaughter, Miranda Reid, Chapel Hill, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Children's Home at www.calvarykids.org.
