Raymond P. Batykefer, 51, passed away May 2, 2025 at his residence in Fairport Harbor with his family by his side. He was born March 16, 1974 in Painesvlle, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident. He loved calling Fairport Harbor home.
Ray was employed as a Machinist with Volk Optical in Mentor. Away from work he served as Past Commander of the Sons of American Legion where he volunteered with fundraisers, the annual fish fry and anything else that was needed. He enjoyed golfing in various leagues in the area and bowling at Rich Lanes and other bowling alleys in the area where he bowled several 300 games. He also enjoyed spending time on the beach at Fairport Harbor and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He made friends with everyone he met and enjoyed cooking and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife Dawn (Abramovic) Batykefer, whom he married August 27, 2016; his daughter Stephanie Morgan, mother Nancy (Sweeney) Batykefer, sister Barbara Davis and brother Daniel (Cathy) Hobson along with his nephews Todd and Mathew Davis and Dave and Anthony Hobson and many cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father George Batykefer.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 316 Fifth Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio 44077.
